School, emotions, confidence

Children & teenagers

The mornings when leaving for school becomes an ordeal, for your child and for the whole house. The Saturday evening stomach ache. The blank mind during the test, when they knew it perfectly the night before. The anger that spills over, or the child who says nothing and fades into the background.

At that age, feelings go through the body before they reach words. So that is where we start: movement, balance and breathing exercises, drawing, sometimes an instrument, all pitched to their age, and all giving them something concrete to hold on to when the tension rises. Most children are happy to come: it feels more like playing than like an appointment.

My background as a primary school teacher helps me understand what is happening in the classroom, and to work with you as well as with the school.

Where a learning or attention difficulty is involved, I work alongside the professionals already following your child, and I will point you further if an assessment seems useful.

The first conversation is with you, without your child. And you are welcome to stay in the session if you would rather.

If this is not the right place for you

There are situations I do not take on, and others where someone else will serve you better than I would. If that is the case, I will tell you at our first exchange and point you elsewhere. That is more honest than beginning work that would lead nowhere.

And if the situation is urgent, do not wait for my reply: ERAN answers 24/7 on 1201, and 101 is the medical emergency number.
